As Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, we’re feeling inspired, connected, and more committed than ever to our shared mission.
At The APF, we exist to connect people and organisations, amplify women’s voices, and champion evidence‑based support that breaks down barriers to physical activity before, during and after pregnancy. This week has reminded us just how powerful collective action can be.
We’ve been honoured to stand alongside the incredible advocacy of the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership, Eve Canavan, and Sport in Mind.

On Wednesday, our Scientific Advisory Board member and Chair of our Special Interest Group for Perinatal Mental Health and Physical Activity, Dr Emily Lovett, joined extraordinary advocates and change‑makers Marching for Mothers.
These conversations and collaborations are vital as we deepen our understanding of women’s lived experiences and how physical activity messaging resonates with those navigating mental health challenges.
Later in the week, our CEO and Co‑Founder Marlize De Vivo, alongside Emily, joined Sport in Mind for an online panel exploring maternal mental health. The message was loud and clear: To build better support for women, babies and families, we need deep collaboration, shared learning, and a united commitment to change.
We’re ready to keep that momentum going, so, if you’d like to work with us on our upcoming initiatives and help shape a future where every woman feels supported to move in ways that work for her, please sign up HERE
Together, we can create a world where women’s wellbeing, physical, emotional and mental, is prioritised, protected and celebrated.

About Marching for Mothers
As many as 1 in 5 new mothers experiences some type of perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMADs). These illnesses frequently go unnoticed and untreated, often with tragic and long-term consequences to both mother and child. Sport in Mind will be Marching for Mothers on World Maternal Mental Health Day to highlight the issue, raise awareness of the need, and together, work towards the solution.
