Join Us as a Programme Manager

As our work continues to grow, so too does our impact — and our need for brilliant people to help us deliver it. The APF is expanding its programme delivery and partnerships, and we’re delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to join our team on a freelance or secondment basis.
This role offers the chance to play a key part in shaping and delivering our multi-partner programmes, funded by Sport England and the National Lottery, that support women to be active before, during, and after pregnancy.

About the Role
We’re looking for someone who thrives on collaboration, coordination, and impact. You’ll have experience managing complex programmes, building strong relationships across sectors, and ensuring that projects deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes.
Working closely with our team and external partners, you’ll lead on planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation — ensuring we meet shared objectives and maintain our reputation for high-quality, evidence-based work, whilst fulfilling our Sport England strategic partnership obligations.
Key Skills and Experience
Proven experience managing or coordinating multi-partner programmes or projects
Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills
Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-sector collaboration
Ability to manage budgets, monitor progress, and report outcomes effectively
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, particularly in women’s health or community settings
A proactive, adaptable approach — able to work independently and as part of a small, high-performing team
Experience working with Sport England or other publicly funded programmes
Knowledge of physical activity, maternal health, or public health systems
Understanding of evaluation methods and frameworks
Why Join Us?
At The APF, we’re passionate about enabling every woman to experience the life-changing benefits of being active during and after pregnancy. Collaboration sits at the heart of our approach — bringing together funders, delivery partners, researchers, and communities to create programmes that are inclusive, evidence-based, and impactful.
If you have the skills, experience, and drive to help us strengthen and scale this work, we’d love to hear from you.
